The module is designed to enable learners to develop critical awareness of the nature of youth in contemporary society. It provides learners with an opportunity to explore and analyse the position of young people in Irish society and examine societal responses to their issues and concerns

This module is designed to enable learners to acquire the knowledge, skills and confidence required to work effectively, under direction in youth information settings. It promotes the ability of learners to contribute effectively to the provision of quality youth information services

3 Working With Young People
This module is designed to enable learners to acquire the knowledge, skills dn aptitudes to work effectively with young people. It promotes the ability of learners to work safely dn effectively as part of a tem in youth work settings, this ability is central to good youth work practice and demands rigorous assessment. 4 Substance Use Issues in Youth Work
Requirements – learners must have prior knowledge and interests in community based work and have supervised access to a group to work with for practice and assessment purposes. Assessor must be an experienced youth worker practitioners and trainer who has direct experience of working within the area of substance abuse.

This module is designed to promote good practice among those who work with young people and communities who are negatively affected by substance use. It provides a critical perspective on some of the issues that affect your people and their communities and encourages them development of coherent responses at individual and organisational level. This module should promote the ability of learners to work safely and effectively as part of a team in youth and community work settings.

This module is designed to give learners and understanding of the context of youth work, youth work issues and approaches. It should enable learners to acquire the knowledge and attitudes to work effectively under direction with youth groups.

Introduction
This module is designed to introduce the learners to some of the key concepts of community development and promotes their understanding of the under pinning theoretical framework of community development practice. It is aimed at community development either in a paid or unpaid capacity.

The above courses give a broad understanding of the issues involved in community development and working with youth within a community. It is of particular interest to those working with youth groups, young offenders, youth rehabilitation centres, teachers, youth club officials or people who give their time unpaid to youth groups.
