3  Working With Young People

This module is designed to enable learners to acquire the knowledge, skills dn aptitudes to work effectively with young people. 4  Substance Use Issues in Youth Work

Requirements – learners must have prior knowledge and interests in community based work and have supervised access to a group to work with for practice and assessment purposes. Assessor must be an experienced youth worker practitioners and trainer who has direct experience of working within the area of substance abuse.

Introduction

This module is designed to promote good practice among those who work with young people and communities who are negatively affected by substance use. It provides a critical perspective on some of the issues that affect your people and their communities and encourages them development of coherent responses at individual and organisational level. This module should promote the ability of learners to work safely and effectively as part of a team in youth and community work settings.

6  Understanding Community Development

Introduction

This module is designed to introduce the learners to some of the key concepts of community development and promotes their understanding of the under pinning theoretical framework of community development practice. It is aimed at community development either in a paid or unpaid capacity.

The above courses give a broad understanding of the issues involved in community development and working with youth within a community.
